Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Delhi Capitals have been treated with a piece of good news as it is learned that their ace pacer Ishant Sharma has recovered from his injury and is ready to take the field. Ishant missed DC’s first three matches in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League due to an injury.

In the absence of Ishant, young Avesh Khan got picked in the Playing XI and has managed to impress the cricket fraternity with his talent. In the first game against CSK, Avesh scalped two wickets of Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni. The second game against RR and the third against PBKS saw the right-arm seamer picking three and one wicket respectively.

Thus, with Ishant available for selection, there is a big dilemma for the captain and team management on whom to pick. Though the franchise is yet to make an official announcement regarding the Indian speedster regaining his 100% fitness, a source close to the team confirmed Ishant’s availability.

“He was struggling with a heel niggle, but he is good to go now. Had to take it slow and easy as we have a long road ahead of us and he is an integral part of the bowling attack,” the source revealed as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Ishant is the senior-most pacer in DC camp and adds a lot of experience and value to the side. However, the DC team management and captain Rishabh Pant will have to make some tough calls while picking the pacers in the Playing XI. DC has many competent speedsters in their squad including the likes of Anrich Nortje, Chris Woakes, Kagiso Rabada, Umesh Yadav, Avesh, Ishant, Lukman Meriwala, and Tom Curran.
