Pragyan Ojha reveals a story about MS Dhoni’s superstitions
There are several stories of players having certain kind of superstitions. Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha has now revealed one of such stories about MS Dhoni. Ojha is now a part of the Indian Premier League Governing Council, having retired from the game. The left-arm spinner shared quite some time with MS Dhoni during his international career.
As a matter of fact, Ojha played his entire international career under Dhoni. The 34-year-old played 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and 6 T20Is for India, with most of his matches being under the captain cool. Ojha revealed that Dhoni does not like to wish his teammates before a match. He further stated that MSD used to wish players ‘good luck’ before, but since the subsequent events for that player didn’t turn out well, he stopped doing it.
“MSD will never wish his team members ‘all the best’ or ‘good luck’ before a game. Because he feels, if he wishes somebody quite a few players he has wished his players during a game, it ended up in a very different way. That’s maybe why he has stopped it.” Ojha, Dhoni’s former India teammate, told Sports Today.
“Once we had a conversation about people having different kinds of sentiments and that’s when he said he never wishes his players before a game. And before the game, none of the players from the opposition go to him. They don’t want any wishes from him,” Ojha added. The spinner ended his career with 113 Tests, 21 ODI and 10 T20I wickets.
Talking about Dhoni, the former Indian skipper hasn’t got off to a good start in IPL 2021.Even in the last match, Dhoni could only score 18 off 17 balls. Post the match, Dhoni admitted that his innings could have cost the match to CSK.
