Anrich Nortje joins Delhi’s bio-bubble after testing negative for the Coronavirus

Nortje was in scintillating form in the 2020 season and picked up 22 wickets in 16 games at an economy of 8.39

Delhi can finally heave a sigh of relief as their pace mainstay Anrich Nortje has joined the team’s bio-bubble after completing his quarantine period. Nortje arrived late in India alongside Kagiso Rabada to participate in the 14th edition of the Indian T20 League.

However, in a shocking turn of events, Nortje tested positive on his arrival in India while Rabada showed no symptoms of Covid-19. Thus, Rabada joined the team after completing his seven-day quarantine period but Nortje was asked to isolate himself for as many as ten days according to the SOPs by BCCI.

Delhi finally gave an update on the 27-year-old saying that he didn’t contract the novel coronavirus. It was a false-positive result. Thus, the speedster has now joined the main squad after testing negative thrice. He has also started training with the team and is expected to take the field in Delhi’s next encounter against Punjab on Sunday.

Anrich Nortje,  in a video released by Delhi said, “Looking forward to getting to the stadium. It was nice to finally watch the Indian T20 League. It was nice to see it in India as well. So excited to get on the field.”

The pace duo of Nortje and Rabada was the main reason for Delhi’s journey to the final in the Indian T20 League 2020, hosted in the United Arab Emirates. Anrich was included in the team as a replacement for Chris Woakes. The 27-year-old was in scintillating form in the 2020 season and picked up 22 wickets in 16 games at an economy of 8.39.
